Leasing Agent job description template
Leasing agents show apartments, answer prospect calls and messages, process applications and leases, and help keep current residents happy enough to renew. They're often the first person a future resident meets. A good post says how many units you lease, which property software you use and whether weekend shifts are required.

Tips for hiring a leasing agent
- Make fair housing training part of onboarding before a new agent's first tour. Inconsistent answers to applicants can create legal risk for your business.
- Run a mock tour in the interview by having the candidate show you a model or vacant unit. You'll see their warmth, product knowledge and follow-through.
- Retail, hotel and restaurant workers often make strong leasing agents. They're used to weekends, selling and keeping people happy.
- Check your state's licensing rules. Some states require a real estate license for leasing activities, and the exemptions vary.
