Chiropractic Assistant job description template
Chiropractic assistants keep a chiropractic office moving: checking patients in, scheduling visits, guiding patients to tables and therapy, applying treatments such as hot packs and electrical stimulation where state rules allow, and handling insurance. Many offices hire people without healthcare experience and train them, so a good post says how the job splits between the front desk and patient care.
Chiropractic Assistant
Full-timeYour Company is hiring a chiropractic assistant to help our patients feel welcome and keep our day on schedule. You'll check patients in, book visits, guide them to treatment rooms, set up the therapies the doctor orders and help with insurance and payments. We see many patients each day, so being organized and upbeat matters. Healthcare experience is helpful, but we'll train someone who's friendly, quick to learn and reliable.
What you’ll do
- Greet patients, check them in and keep the flow from waiting room to treatment rooms on time
- Schedule visits that follow each patient's care plan, and confirm and reschedule appointments
- Take patient histories, vital signs and intake forms before the doctor's exam
- Apply ordered therapies such as hot and cold packs, electrical stimulation or ultrasound, as state rules allow
- Demonstrate the home exercises and stretches the doctor has prescribed
- Verify insurance coverage, collect copays and post payments
- Take X-rays if you hold the license or permit our state requires
- Clean tables, therapy equipment and treatment rooms between patients
What we’re looking for
- A friendly, outgoing manner with patients in person and on the phone
- Organized enough to keep many patients moving on schedule
- Comfortable with computers and quick to learn practice software
- Willing to complete HIPAA training and any assistant training or registration our state requires
- Able to stand and walk much of the day and help patients on and off treatment tables
Nice to have
- Previous chiropractic, physical therapy or medical office experience
- Chiropractic assistant certification or coursework
- Experience with personal injury or workers' compensation billing
- A limited-scope X-ray license, where our state offers one
Schedule
Full-time, following our adjusting hours, which include early mornings, some evenings and Saturday mornings. If the office closes for a midday break, your shift may be split around it.
What we offer
- Complimentary chiropractic care for you
- Paid training on our procedures, therapies and software
- Paid time off and holidays
- Health insurance for full-time staff
Add your pay, location and schedule when you post. Jobs that show pay get noticeably more applicants.

Tips for hiring a chiropractic assistant
- Check your state chiropractic board's rules for assistants. Some states require registration or training before an assistant applies therapies or takes X-rays.
- Hire for personality and organization. Patients see the assistant at every visit, and therapies and software can be taught.
- Have finalists shadow your front desk for an hour during a busy session. You'll see how they talk with patients and whether they keep up.
- Mention split shifts and Saturday hours in the post so applicants who can't work them don't apply.
