Tips for hiring a landscaper
- Start hiring in late winter. Good crew members commit to a company before the spring rush starts.
- Hold a paid working interview: an afternoon on a crew shows who keeps up, stays careful around equipment and gets along with the team.
- Offer a return bonus or raise for crew members who come back next season. Rehiring trained people saves you weeks of training.
- If your crews apply pesticides or herbicides, check your state's applicator licensing rules before assigning that work.
