- How do you make sure older products get sold before newer ones?
- What do you do to lift heavy boxes safely?
- You’re stocking an aisle and a customer asks where something is. How do you handle it?
- Tell me about a job where you had to work without much supervision.
- Our shifts start before opening. Is that schedule realistic for you week after week?
Tips for hiring a stock associate
- State the start time and lifting requirement clearly in the post. Applicants who can’t work those hours will screen themselves out.
- Run a short paid trial during a delivery and watch whether they work steadily, check labels and handle product with care.
- Mention any path into receiving, inventory or keyholder roles, since stock work is a common first step in retail.
- Ask references about attendance. A stocker who misses delivery day leaves the whole store behind.
