Inventory Specialist job description template
An inventory specialist keeps track of what you have, what you sold and what you need to reorder, using regular counts, receiving checks and careful record keeping. For a small retailer, a good one prevents empty shelves and cash tied up in excess stock. Your post should name your inventory system and how often you count.

- Name your inventory software in the post. Candidates who already know it will need much less training.
- Consider warehouse, receiving and bookkeeping backgrounds, not just retail.
- Ask references about accuracy and honesty, since this role often uncovers losses.
