Night Auditor job description template
Night auditors run the hotel front desk overnight: checking in late arrivals, answering calls, keeping guests safe and closing out the day's accounts. The audit itself means posting room charges, balancing payments and running end-of-day reports in your property management system. A good post says which nights the role covers, whether the auditor works alone and what else is expected, such as breakfast setup.
Night Auditor
Full-timeYour Company is hiring a night auditor to keep our front desk running overnight. - Answer phones, set wake-up calls and respond to guest requests overnight
- Walk the property on a set schedule, check doors and report safety or noise issues
- Set up the breakfast area and coffee service before early guests come down
- Write clear shift notes so the morning team knows what happened overnight
What we’re looking for
- Available for overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Comfortable with numbers, balancing payments and finding errors
- Calm and confident working alone and handling the unexpected
- Friendly, professional manner with guests at any hour
- Comfortable with computers and quick to learn hotel software
Nice to have
- Hotel front desk or night audit experience
- Experience with a property management system such as Opera, Cloudbeds or WebRezPro
- Bookkeeping or cash office experience
Schedule
Full-time overnight shifts, typically from late evening until early morning, five nights a week, including weekends and holidays. We keep your nights consistent so you can plan your sleep.
What we offer
- Shift differential for overnight hours
- Paid training on our property management system and audit process
- Discounted room nights at our property
- Paid time off and holiday pay
Add your pay, location and schedule when you post. Jobs that show pay get noticeably more applicants.

Tips for hiring a night auditor
- Give finalists a short exercise: reconcile a sample shift's payments with one planted mistake. Accuracy is the heart of this job.
- Explain your safety setup in the interview, such as cameras, a locked lobby door after a set hour and who to call for help. It matters to anyone who'll be alone overnight.
- Look for people who prefer nights, such as those with daytime classes, caregiving or a second job. A steady night auditor is worth keeping.
- Train new auditors alongside your current one for several nights before they work alone.
