Painter

Full-time
Your Company is hiring a painter for interior and exterior projects in homes and businesses. You'll protect furniture and floors, patch and sand, caulk and prime, and lay down clean lines and smooth finishes. We take prep seriously because that's what makes paint last, and we treat every customer's space with care. If you take pride in neat work and leaving a room better than you found it, apply today.

What you’ll do

  • Cover floors and furniture, and mask off trim, windows and hardware before painting
  • Scrape, sand and patch drywall so surfaces are smooth and ready for paint
  • Caulk gaps and choose the right primer for each surface
  • Cut in clean lines and roll or brush walls, ceilings, trim and doors
  • Operate airless sprayers on exteriors, cabinets and large surfaces
  • Pressure-wash exteriors and remove loose paint from siding and trim
  • Follow lead-safe work practices on homes built before 1978
  • Clean brushes, rollers and sprayers, and leave each room tidy at the end of the day

What we’re looking for

  • Hands-on painting experience, residential or commercial
  • Able to cut a straight line by hand without tape
  • Able to work on extension ladders and scaffolding, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Reliable transportation to job sites
  • Careful work habits around customers' belongings and finished surfaces

Nice to have

  • EPA Lead-Safe Certified Renovator (RRP) training
  • Cabinet refinishing or specialty finish experience, such as stains and lacquers
  • Drywall repair and texture-matching skills

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday during daytime hours. Exterior work depends on the weather, and some commercial jobs may be scheduled for evenings or weekends.

What we offer

  • Brushes, rollers, sprayers and ladders provided
  • Paid EPA lead-safe RRP certification
  • Work shirts and painter's pants provided
  • Steady interior work through the winter months
  • Paid vacation days

Add your pay, location and schedule when you post. Jobs that show pay get noticeably more applicants.

  4. How do you protect a customer's furniture and floors during an interior job?

Tips for hiring a painter

  • Ask for photos of past jobs and look closely at the lines along ceilings and trim. Clean cut lines are hard to fake.
  • Run a short paid test: have candidates patch, prime and cut in a section of wall. It shows their prep habits in under an hour.
  • If you work on homes built before 1978, make sure your firm is EPA Lead-Safe Certified and your painters are trained, and say in the post that you'll pay for the training.
  • Start recruiting in late winter, before exterior season keeps experienced painters booked.
